Kelly's Story
I grew up in Missouri and accepted the Lord as my savior when I was 8 years old. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and I have 7 children and 17 grandchildren.
In 2011, I was in a near-fatal car accident that left me unable to walk or stand without being in severe pain. I’ve been in an electric chair ever since . After moving to Nebraska, I attended a craft class. On the last day of the class, I woke up and had the strongest desire to learn how to make Native American Star Quilts. I had zero sewing experience, so I knew it was God at work putting this desire in my heart. |
I trusted in the Lord and reached out to Maria Scott who had just finished teaching Native American Star Quilts the week prior. She agreed to teach me and my journey began. For years, I created my quilts and took them to someone else to do the final stitching. God intervened again and I became good friends with my longarmer Sam.
Six months ago my sweet friend endured multiple injuries keeping her from being able to longarm. I had four quilts that I absolutely needed to get quilted right away. I was so incredibly afraid to quilt on my sewing machine as I had never done it before, but another dear friend encouraged me to just try it since they were small quilts. I prayed and asked the Lord to give me the confidence to do it. I said, “Lord, I can’t do this without you, you gave me the talent and you know the need that I have. I need your help.”
With a calm and comforted heart, I completed four small quilts on my regular sewing machine. I was so thankful!
Because of limitations within my home and being in a wheelchair, I am unable to sandwich together my larger tops for quilting. As my husband is facing his own health issues affecting his ability to work, I really need to be able to continue creating and selling my quilts. Discouraged, I again reached out to God and he told me, “I have this… I have you in the palm of my hand.” I had no idea what God’s plan was, but I trusted in Him. I have always planned to use the talent that God has given me to first glorify him and secondly to help provide for my family.
That’s when MK Quilts came into my life.
God has put precious people in my life to get me to where I’m at today and I am eternally thankful ❣️ I am blessed beyond anything I could have imagined.
